Unilateral Below-the-Knee Amputee - Descending Stairs, with no railing, Step over Step

Descending stairs "step over step" is an advanced activity and should not be attempted by a recent amputee unless supervised and protected.

Instructions:

1. Approach the steps.
2. Step down with the prosthesis; insuring the foot is safely on the next lower step.
3. Step down with the sound leg past the prosthetic leg to the next lower step.
4. Step down with the prosthetic leg past the sound leg to the next lower step.
