Monclova, Mexico

Monclova, located in North Central Mexico, is a city of 300,000 inhabitants with no capability for providing artificial limbs to those needing them. The disabled community, along with the Mayor's office, invited ProsthetiKa to assist Monclovans in fitting amputees and training local technicians. Our first course was given in June, 2008. Martin Johnson, Mina Earnest, and Jon Batzdorff, CPO made up the team who went to Monclova and provided a detailed hands-on demonstration of every step of measuring, casting, fitting, fabricating, and finishing prostheses for above-the-knee and below-the-knee amputees. The long term plan is to select students for advanced training and set up a local training program in Monclova.
