Jon and Romero in Cochabamba, Bolivia

ProsthetiKa has participated in three projects in Cochabamba, Bolivia.

Prosthetists and orthotists from ProsthetiKa worked with local techincians to develop and improve  techiniques using locally available plastics. Patients were seen and evaluated as a group with doctors, therapists and technicians discussing the patients’needs and agreeing on a plan. The technicians then worked together for the rest of the week to fabircate the appropriate brace or limb and then the group was once again assembled for fitting of the device and final evaluation.

Using this format, orthopedic devices were made for children with scoliosis, spina bifida, and cerebral palsy, and amputations.

ProsthetiKa has developed a cooperative relationship with the caregivers in Cochabamba and plans to continue with future programs.
